Area sports star arrested
TORRINGTON : A former top Torrington High School basketball player was among five people arrested on breach of peace and assault charges for an alleged incident last month.
A walk-in complaint was made at the Torrington Police Department of an alleged assault in the Torrington Plaza at 11:17 p.m. on Aug. 8, police said. The report led to an arrest of five individuals, including Jordan Williams, 18, 293 County Road.

New Delhi, 27 Sept. 2009: : A four-member gang snatched Rs five lakh from two employees of a steel firm who were on their way to a nationalised bank in Thiruvottiyur in Tamil Nadu to deposit the money, and escaped after audaciously throwing chilli powder on their faces, in full public view, on Saturday morning.
Mani (40) and Saravanan (35), employed in a private steel firm in Thiruvottiyur, had been to the house of the firm’s owner, Karthik, in Tondiarpet.
2 die in gunfire after gang-related fistfight
Sanfransisco, 21 Sept: A gang-related fistfight at a Mission District pizzeria erupted into gunfire Sunday afternoon, leaving two men dead of multiple gunshot wounds and a third man injured, authorities said.Police arrested two suspects shortly after the 4 p.m. shootings at Papa Potrero’s Pizza at 24th Street and Potrero Avenue, San Francisco police Sgt. Wilfred Williams said.
He said he did not know how many people were inside the restaurant at the time of the shooting.

Kiwi jailed in London for sexual assault
A New Zealander convicted of sexually assaulting a woman who passed out after drinking in London has been jailed for 30 months.
Justin von Tunzelman, 37, was found guilty in July of stripping and groping the woman after they drank at a pub in July last year.
During his week-long trial in July, the court was told von Tunzelman, an investment banker, found the 29-year-old woman passed out in an office.
Evidence of Israel, Hamas war crimes in Gaza – U.N
UN, Sept 16: Both the Israeli army and Palestinian militants committed war crimes, and possibly crimes against humanity, during the December-January Gaza war, the United Nations charged on Tuesday.
A 575-page report by a fact-finding mission organized by the Geneva-based U.N. Human Rights Council called on both sides to thoroughly investigate the allegations.
Gang of women thieves busted
New Delhi, Sept. 14: The police in west district on Sunday claimed to have busted a gang of women thieves who entered the world of crime allegedly after getting inspired by a Bollywood blockbuster.
The police said gang leader Geeta (30), Kela (32), Krishna (40), Ompati (40), Sheela (20) and the alleged receiver of stolen goods, Gurvachan (45), were nabbed from Peera Garhi Chowk in Paschim Vihar after a tip-off.
