Paris, 10 Oct 2009: The sex scandal surrounding France’s culture minister has come at a bad time for President Nicolas Sarkozy whose popularity among voters took another dip, according to a poll published Friday.
The survey was conducted this week, when Culture Minister Frederic Mitterrand had to defend his honor over a book he wrote describing paying young men for sex.

Paris, 08 October 2009: French politicians from left and right on Thursday demanded that Culture Minister Frederic Mitterrand answer allegations that a memoir he wrote endorses sex tourism.
Mitterrand’s 2005 book “The Bad Life” recounts how he paid for sex with “young boys” in Thailand and Indonesia, and caused no scandal after it was released, when the author was not yet a member of government.

London, 07 Oct 2009: Former Wales rugby captain Colin Charvis has been charged with drink-driving.
The 36-year-old, who also played for the British and Irish Lions, was pulled over by South Wales Police and arrested on Sunday after a night out in Cardiff.
Curtis Warren found guilty over plot to smuggle £1m of cannabis into Jersey
London, 07 Oct 2009: One of Britain’s most notorious criminals was today found guilty of conspiring to smuggle £1m worth of cannabis into Jersey.
Curtis Warren, 46, was Interpol’s number one most wanted criminal in the mid 1990s and the only drug trafficker to make it onto the Sunday Times Rich List. He had only been out of prison for five weeks when he was arrested in 2007 by Jersey police, accused of being the ringleader of a six-man gang who were trying to import 180kg of cannabis into the island from Holland via boat from France.
Polanski agreed to pay sex victim $500k
Los Angeles, 05 October 2009: According to the Los Angeles Times, the internationally renowned director had agreed to pay Samantha Geimer in a civil settlement after she had filed a lawsuit against him in 1988, accusing him of sexual assault and various other related charges.
Settlement documents show that Polanski agreed to pay Geimer 500,000 dollars with interest in October 1993 within two years, reports Contactmusic.
Ex-Shrews star arrested after trouble at city bar
