Ontario, 30 Oct.2009: Six Canadian members of the Bandidos motorcycle gang were found guilty of 44 counts of first degree murder and four counts of manslaughter in Ontario.
The seven-month trial ended Thursday in London, Ontario, after the jury deliberated for 14 hours, the London Free Press reported.
The men, whose ages range from 25 to 60, were charged with the 2006 shootings of eight other bikers from Toronto. The bodies of the victims were found stuffed into car trunks at a farm outside of London.
The six accused were from the Bandidos’ probationary chapter in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The gang is based in Texas, the Globe and Mail said. The trial heard the Texas leaders wanted the Canadian operation shut down because of “communications problems and lack of dues payments,” the Free Press said.
The convictions carry a maximum of a life sentence with no parole for 25 years. Sentencing was scheduled for Friday.
