Iran test-fires missiles amid nuclear tension
Tehran, 27 Sept.: Iran test-fired missiles on Sunday to show it was prepared to head off any military threat, four days before the Islamic Republic is due to hold rare talks with world powers worried about its nuclear ambitions.
The missile maneuvers coincide with escalating tension in Iran’s nuclear row with the West, after last week’s disclosure by Tehran that it is building a second uranium enrichment plant.

Dead Census Worker Was Bound, Naked
BIG CREEK, Ky. (Sept. 26) – A family’s visit to a rural Kentucky cemetery led to the shocking discovery of a part-time census worker’s naked body hanging from a tree with the word “fed” written on his chest.
Jerry Weaver of Fairfield, Ohio, told The Associated Press the man had been gagged and his hands and feet were bound with duct tape.
Weaver said Friday he was certain from the gruesome scene that 51-year-old Bill Sparkman was killed deliberately.
“He was murdered,” Weaver said. “There’s no doubt.”

Tommie Naylor, 41, of the 7900 block of South Yale Avenue, was linked through DNA evidence to the Nov. 1 attack on a 16-year-old girl in the 6100 block of South Rockwell Street.
US charges suspect in ‘bomb plot’
New York, 24 ept. 2009: An Afghan-born US man has been charged with plotting to carry out bomb attacks on the US.
Najibullah Zazi, 24, was charged by the New York Grand Jury with planning to use “one or more weapons of mass destruction” in the attacks.
Vaccine trial raises Aids hopes
Bankok, 24 Sept. 2009: An experimental vaccine has been found to successfully cut the risk of HIV infection, raising hopes of a “breakthrough” in the battle against the virus that causes Aids, researchers say.
Trials of the vaccine on more than 16,000 volunteers in Thailand found that it reduced the risk of infection by almost one-third.
